Middlebury College Museum of Art

Teaching & Learning

For K-12 Teachers

As part of the College’s protective measures to keep our community healthy during the pandemic, the Museum’s physical spaces will remain closed to both the general public and all Middlebury students and staff for the remainder of 2020. We are taking advantage of the continued closure to rethink substantially the ways in which we contextualize and display objects and to reinstall our permanent collection galleries in a manner that advances more meaningful juxtapositions.

When we physically reopen to the public—tentatively planned for March 2, 2021—we look forward to sharing our newly redesigned galleries with you. Until then, you can visit us right here, online, anytime 24/7. Have a look around. There’s a lot to experience.

The Middlebury College Museum of Art invites school groups of all ages to explore art from its permanent collection and special exhibitions for 2019–2020.

Our programs encourage students to make connections between works of art from different cultures and time periods and their own experiences. School programs at the Museum also address many of the goals in Vermont’s K–12 academic standards, especially in the Visual Arts, Language Arts, and Social Studies.

School programs at the Middlebury College Museum of Art are made possible by generous support from the Arthur and Helen Baer Charitable Foundation with additional funding from the Middlebury College Friends of the Art Museum.
