School Group Tours

The Museum offers guided tours for school groups from Kindergarten through 12th grade during regular Museum hours. Tours are conducted by Museum staff with the assistance of trained Middlebury College students.

K-12 teachers who would like to lead their groups through the Museum may schedule self-guided tours.

All groups may consist of a maximum of 25 students. There must be a minimum of one adult chaperone for every ten students.

All school visits are free, but must be scheduled in advance in order to guarantee gallery space and allow us time to share the Museum rules with you before your visit. Please visit the School Programs page to learn more about our offerings and to request a guided or self-guided tour.

Scheduling a School Group Tour

To schedule a tour (guided or self-guided), call the Museum at (802) 443–2248 at least three weeks in advance, or fill out the online registration form here.

If you call, be prepared to give the following information: day and time of visit with several alternative dates, name of tour, class size, home and school phone numbers, and complete school address.

Confirmation forms for Museum visits will be sent within one week of booking a tour. All confirmation forms must be completed, signed, and returned in order for a group to visit the Museum. Museum visit information and guidelines will be sent with your confirmation.

It is important to prepare your students for their visit. A Teacher Resource Packet will help you introduce the theme of your visit.

The Mahaney Center for the Arts and the Middlebury College Museum of Art are physically accessible. Please call (802) 443–2248 for more information.
