The Middlebury campus is home to one of the most important public art collections of any American liberal arts college. Middlebury’s distinguished collection includes 24 works—mostly sculpture—by 24 different artists, many of them nationally or internationally known. Join Emmie Donadio, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, and Pieter Broucke, Director of the Arts and Associate Curator of Ancient Art for a museum-sponsored walking tour of  the public collection to learn more about the significance of these amazing works and how they found their way to Middlebury.

Paul Strand in Vermont: 1943–1946

Paul Strand (1890–1976), arguably one of the greatest photographers in the history of the medium, photographed Vermont on a number of occasions during the 1940s. Richard Saunders, Museum Director and Professor of History of Art and Architecture, will give context to Strand’s Vermont photographs many of which are on view in the museum’s concurrent exhibition Paul Strand in Vermont: 1943–1946. Reception to follow in the lobby of the Mahaney Center for the Arts.
