Friends of the Art Museum Bus Trip: Montreal

Bus Trip
Time: 7:15am
Location: Montreal

Middlebury College Friends of the Art Museum and members of UVM's Fleming Museum

Join the Middlebury College Friends of the Art Museum and members of UVM's Fleming Museum for a spring day trip to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts to view their current exhibit, The Warrior Emperor and China's Terracotta Army. A unique selection of some 300 artifacts, including the famous life-size terracotta soldiers of the first Qin Emperor's army, will take visitors back through 1,000 years of Chinese art and history. Bronze vessels, ceramic figurines, jade ornaments, gold swords, architectural fittings and military accoutrements, invaluable evidence of the material culture of dynastic and imperial China from 1045 BCE to 23 AD, will shed light on the birth of a new cultural and geo-political cohesion that would indelibly permeate China for centuries to come.

The bus will meet Middlebury-area travelers at 7:15 a.m. in the parking lot at the Mahaney Center for the Arts, then Burlington folks at the Hannaford's Supermarket parking lot on Dorset Street at 8:15 a.m. Following a tour of the exhibit and time in the museum galleries, you will have time on your own to enjoy lunch in Montreal and explore the city before boarding the bus at 3:00 p.m. to return to Vermont.

Members: $65 per person
Non-members: $75 per person
RSVP by Friday, April 22 to Kristen Kilbashian at the Fleming Museum: (802) 656-0750 or fleming@uvm.edu.
