MIDDLEBURY, Vt.—In early April the Middlebury College Museum of Art hired Christopher Murray to fill its vacant Museum Preparator position.

Chris moved with his family to Vermont in 2003 after spending 16 years studying and working in New York City. Chris has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute in Printmaking. Throughout college Chris worked in a frame shop framing, matting, and mounting artwork. He also worked for over a year as an art apprentice to the well-known Washington, DC artist, Andrew Hudson. At the start of his professional career Chris worked for several years as a fine-arts printmaker. In this position, he had the great fortune of working side-by-side with and producing works for numerous artists, including Richard Mock, Vito Acconci, and Alice Neel.

For 12 years following, Chris worked as a Graphic Designer and Art Director for Drexel Burnham Lambert, Health Management Systems, Inc., Time Warner, J.P. Morgan, and Dow Jones.

Since 2000 Chris has been working from home as a graphic artist and illustrator for various freelance clients. In his free time, he pursues painting, carpentry, and other artistic outlets. Chris lives in Middlebury with his wife, two sons and two Jack Russell Terriers.
