New Approaches to Ancient Art: the Teaching Collection of Antiquities at the College Museum

Virtual Lecture
Time: 4:30pm
Location: Zoom

Pieter Broucke, Professor of History of Art and Architecture, Associate Curator of Ancient Art

As part of the Carol Rifelj Faculty Lecture Series and Virtual Middlebury, Pieter Broucke will give a virtual public talk in which he discusses how the museum’s thematic reinstallation of its permanent collection provides an opportunity to take stock of the ways in which Middlebury’s ancient art collection has grown and developed over the past decades. As museological interests are shifting towards social and economic considerations of artistic production, scientific analysis, issues of ownership, provenance, and repatriation, it becomes paramount to explore what may be in store for the next decades. Pre-registration is required for this Zoom lecture. Register for Pieter’s talk now.
