Fridays at the Museum—Middlebury’s Ecstasy of St. Teresa of Ávila: Artist, Patron, and Context

Illustrated Lecture
Time: 12:30pm
Location: Mahaney Center for the Arts, Room 125 and Museum

Dr. Jessica Boehman, CUNY LaGuardia Community College

Middlebury’s terracotta relief of The Ecstasy of St. Teresa of Ávila has been attributed to Tommaso Amantini, a Baroque sculptor trained in Bernini’s circle in Rome, on the basis of a similar, signed relief in Vienna. Dr. Jessica Boehman will link both reliefs to high-profile Church patrons  in Le Marche.
