Each year the Friends of the Art Museum award students, artists, teachers, and leaders in the visual arts living or working in Addison County for distinction in the visual arts. This recognition program encourages appreciation of the visual arts in the community by recognizing individuals who have made outstanding contributions either through exceptional creative achievement or support of the visual arts.
Awards are made in seven categories including Middlebury College senior; high school senior; eighth-grade student; sixth-grade student; teacher in a public or private school; professional or amateur artist, craftsperson, or teacher; and arts benefactor, volunteer, or organization.
Nomination forms are sent in early January each year to individuals, schools, and other organizations involved in the visual arts, and completed nomination forms are due in the Museum by the first Friday in March. Winners are notified in late March, and the awards are presented at the Friends of the Art Museum Annual Supper in April or early May.
